Dear Families,

We are completing up our apple unit this week and will begin our pumpkin unit. We will be investigating our apples and looking at their color, height, and weight. We will be exploring the life cycle of a pumpkin and wrapping up our week making applesauce in the classroom. In math, we will be making three different patterns with apples, learning about five frames, and measuring pumpkins. For math centers, we will be exploring our apples by counting our seeds, weighing our apple, and making a print of our apple. If you have not had a chance to send in one or two apples with your child, please do so on Tuesday. This week in Second Step we will focus on being assertive.

Dear Families,
We are learning about apple this week. We will be doing lots of fun science experiments with apples and math activities. We will be sorting apples by size and color, stamping patterns with apples, graphing our favorite way to eat an apple, and measuring with apples. We have two fun apple experiments planned for science… apple volcano and germy apple. Please make sure your child brings one or two apples to school starting Monday, Oct. 2nd. This week in Second Step (our social emotional learning curriculum) we will be focusing on self talk for staying on task. Don’t forget to turn in your Pumpkin Patch permission slip.

Happy Apple Picking,
The Kindergarten Team
