Meet Ms. Lane
Hi Room 101 Families, I'm Ms. Lane! I am absolutely thrilled to be Mrs. Burks’ student intern this year in kindergarten at Ray Elementary!
I graduated from Michigan State University in May with a B.A. in Elementary Education and a specialization in mathematics. I grew up in Naperville, and my parents still live there. I am excited to say that, since graduating however, I have moved to Hyde Park and live very close to Ray.
As a student intern from MSU, I spend every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday at Ray with Mrs. Burks and our amazing kiddos. On Thursdays, I attend Master’s classes as a part of MSU’s student teaching program to further prepare me to be the best teacher I can be.
I can’t wait to get to know all of our incredible students and to learn along with them throughout this year. I think it is so fun that we will be experiencing our first year at Ray together in kindergarten!

My education philosophy is founded in my dedication to urban education and culturally relevant teaching. I believe that all students can and will learn at high levels regardless of ethnicity, background, or social standing. I believe that it is my responsibility as a teacher to provide all students with a supportive, loving, and caring classroom environment that fosters learning and promotes academic success. I also see my relationship with my students as key to student success, and I work hard to develop a strong relationship with each and every one of my students.
